Welcome to the question and answer section of our site. As stated before, we
tend to be straight shooters and the responses listed below are those of our own
that come from 10 years experience in the web design and marketing business.
- What should I be doing
first?
- I have a business
plan and know what I can afford to spend, now what?
- What makes Edie's any
different than any other website and design company
- What if I want to
create my site and just have you host it?
- How many customers
can I expect in the first six months?
- What if I have a
great business idea, but lack the necessary funds to get it underway?
This answer depends on your business. Lets start with the basic's:
- Have you done your homework ?... Do you have an idea of where it is
you are now and where it is you want to end up? Do you have a solid
business plan that comes from hours and sometimes days of brainstorming and
fine tuning to get these answers, which by the way continues to change as a
business develops.
- Are you realistic about what it is that you would like to accomplish
using the web? Don't get caught up in the hype of marketing schemes.
- Decide on just how much you can afford to spend and stay within your
budget. Don't be fooled into thinking that you are going to make millions on
the web. There are such examples, but they are few and far between.
- Know exactly what your expectations are and find out if they are truly
attainable.
It's time to start looking for a solid web design and hosting business that's
within your budget. Prior to doing this, write down exactly what your
expectations are and any questions you may have concerning your new site. Don't
be afraid to ask questions, as someone long before us said "The only dumb
question is the question not asked".
Keep in mind when formulating these questions, the market place is content
driven. This means the products and or services you plan to offer on the web has
to supply the information and or prices quickly to the customer or you just lost
the sale. Having a fancy looking site with a lot of graphics are great if the
only people you plan on seeing it are your family and friends. Keep it simple
and to the point.
We want you to succeed!!!
If you decide to go with us, we will ask you those direct questions about
expectations concerning the web, we like to call it bubble popping. We want you,
our client to have a solid understanding of how the web can work for you and your
business. If it's not a win win situation for both parties involved, it's a no
go on our end and we will decline our services. Our approach is to sit down with
you and go over a realistic goal to shoot for. We will then take your business ideas and create a
site that is not only functional, but has the look and feel that is unique to
your business.
Here is where most business fail miserably on the web. We can and will host
your site on our server for a monthly fee depending on the size and traffic
going to and from it. So why the gloom and doom of the first line about business
failings? Let me put it to you this way, yes you can create and maintain your
own site if you have the time and experience of web publishing, but usually
that's not the case. The usual outcome is:
- The only people visiting your site are family and friends
- You don't have the time to keep your site updated and to make necessary
changes to keep the site current (people stop coming)
- You loose any customer that can't find what they want on your site
because their attention span is three seconds and the graphic you have takes
60 seconds to appear. Don't laugh, we have seen where companies have placed
graphics that take over 470 seconds on their home page.
- You failed to realize there is a three click rule when it comes to
customers. If they can't get to the information about the product or service
within three clicks of the mouse.... no sale.
This depends on a lot of factors:
- Will you be using the site as a tool or extension of a business already
in place? For the businesses already in place, advertising plays a big part
in the success of the site. Make sure to place your website address on all
your business cards, newspaper and radio ads. Most people are now well
connected to the internet and look for the information and prices by way of
the web.
- Will you be advertising on Google or Yahoo to draw traffic?
- Keep in mind in the global marketplace, you are just one in millions of
other sites competing for the market share. We will keep it real and have
your site deliver the correct content that the user finds useful.
- This brings us back to the original question of how many visitors will
come to the site in six months. We can guarantee you at least two visitors,
you and I. It will depend on how well the site is marketed and supplying the
correct content to the user.
We offer a partnership program to businesses and individuals that lack the
necessary funding needed to take it to the web. In order to partner with us the
business or individual must meet certain requirements.
- You need to be able to show us that the idea is attainable and
realistic.
- Is morally and ethically grounded.
- Does NOT deal in pornographic material.
- Is not a get rich scheme or includes spamming in any way.
- That you have what it takes to complete sales or supply service in a
timely fashion.
- That you have the time and energy for the long haul with the leadership
abilities needed.
